Beyond Human Narration

Friday, 14 November 2025, 10.00‑11.30

Asrul Sani Theatre, Taman Ismail Marzuki, Jakarta

Literature tends to follow anthropocentrism by placing the narrative focus on human perspectives. However, the widespread, intensifying destructive power, due to its inflated interpretation, has spurred the emergence of other schools of thought, such as ecocentrism or biocentrism, as ways to resist or negotiate. In literature, a similar development has emerged through the publication of works attempting to transcend human narratives by giving voice to other entities. It is an important development to discuss, both as a form of expanding artistic expression and as a critical stance in re-examining the essence of humanity.
