Embroidering the Homeland of Equality

Saturday, 15 November 2025, 10.00–11.30

Asrul Sani Theatre, Taman Ismail Marzuki, Jakarta

Whenever a group of people is marginalized, the principle of equality is ripped apart. Marginalization often stems from fundamental differences, such as race/ethnicity, disability, sexual orientation, and religion, but its consequences affect broader areas, such as unfulfilled civil rights, reduced opportunities, and even discrimination and racism, along with violence. Members of minority groups are vulnerable to situations shaped by dominant groups or a neglectful state, resulting in structural inequality where rights and opportunities cannot be accessed equally. Literary works that address these issues, through diverse artistic strategies and perspectives, become a vital contribution to mending the ripped fabric of equality.
