All Eyes on Papua

Sunday, 16 November 2025, 10.00–11.30

Asrul Sani Theatre, Taman Ismail Marzuki, Jakarta

The Papuan peoples have been living under systemic racism for decades. While armed conflicts have taken countless lives, these have also extinguished hopes and darkened futures. Human rights violations have continued unabated throughout this protracted confrontation, forcing thousands of indigenous Papuans to leave their ancestral lands. Meanwhile, many of the government’s development programs imposed on Papuan communities address no actual needs. These programs, unilaterally designed, often strip away the very aspirations of Papuans. Amid today’s torrent of information that obscures facts and discourse, listening to Papuans’ own thoughts, opinions, and lived experiences offers the clearest lens into what they have endured and truly feel.
