AS Rosyid
Indonesia
AS Rosyid is a writer and essay mentor from Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara. He is actively engaged in ecological thought that intersects with religion, knowledge politics, and grassroots movements. His works often explore the relationship between humans and nature, as well as the resistance of local communities against capitalist expansion in their living spaces. He is the author of Melawan Nafsu Merusak Bumi (2022) and Al-Qur’an Bilang Kepentingan Bumi Harus Didahulukan (2025), two books that revisit environmental ethics within the Islamic intellectual tradition. He is currently involved in archiving and preserving Sasak culture through the Gumi Project, under the guidance of a lokaq (Sasak elder). His work seeks to offer new interpretations of environmental ethics, Islam, and Sasak cultural thought amid the strong penetration of capitalism in Lombok. He also founded Kelas Tapak—a learning space for essays and narrative nonfiction—and has spoken at various forums, including the Makassar International Writers Festival (2025).
