Farwiza Farhan

As a passionate forest conservationist, Farwiza co-founded the Forest, Nature, and Environment Aceh Foundation (HAkA). Through this non-profit organization, this one of the influential women in TIME Magazine’s 2022 TIME100 Next strives to strengthen civil society’s role and women’s participation in protecting, conserving, and restoring the Leuser Ecosystem in Sumatra, Indonesia.

She has dedicated herself for better ecosystem management through policy & advocacy, community empowerment, and forest monitoring technology. For her remarkable impact, Farwiza was selected as a TED Fellow in 2021, received the National Geographic Wayfinder Award in 2022, and honored with the Ramon Magsaysay Award in 2024.
