Hariati Sinaga is a researcher and a lecturer at Gender Studies Graduate Program, Universitas Indonesia. A political economist by training, Hariati’s research interests focus on gender and labour relations, particularly in the palm oil sector. In 2021, she wrote Buruh Siluman: The making and maintaining of cheap and disciplined labour on oil palm plantations in Indonesia , which examines the reproduction of gendered plantation labour in the palm oil sector.
