While armed conflicts have taken countless lives, these have also extinguished hopes and darkened futures. Human rights violations have continued unabated throughout this protracted confrontation, forcing thousands of indigenous Papuans to leave their ancestral lands. Meanwhile, many of the government\u2019s development programs imposed on Papuan communities address no actual needs. These programs, unilaterally designed, often strip away the very aspirations of Papuans.
