Their bodies are seen as machines that must endlessly increase productivity, never mind that it often means exploitation. The industrial system does not recognize a worker as a person\u2014they are merely tools to generate profit. Time and again, they must concede low wages, unfair labor contracts, and fragile social protections because jobs are scarce while the cost of living relentlessly hounds them. In such conditions, unionizing becomes crucial.
