Mawan Belgia comes from Mamuju, West Sulawesi, Indonesia. He chose writing after realizing he had failed to become either a mathematician or a football player. His short stories have appeared in local and national media. To this day, he remains drawn to writing fiction centered on environmental and socio-political issues. His novels include Sampah di Laut, Meira (2020), Bumi Hutan Tropis (2021), Serikat Anjing Mandiri (2024), and Solidaritas Binatang Bahagia (2025). In 2023, he was selected as one of the emerging writers at the Makassar International Writers Festival (MIWF).
