Mikael Kudiai

Mikael Kudiai (born in Nabire in 1995) is a journalist and editor based in Nabire, Central Papua. A Sociology of Education graduate from FISIP UNY, he was active in LPM Ekspresi (student press) and the Papuan Students Alliance (AMP), wrote for local media, and helped initiate the One Soul newspaper. He later worked as an editor at Suara Papua (2014–2016); at Radio Boekoe in Yogyakarta (2015); and for IndoPROGRESS where he edited the “Papua Bicara” column. After returning to Papua, he joined Jubi (2017–2018) and co-founded the Association of Indigenous Papuan Traders (APAP) in Nabire, advocating the rights and livelihoods of mama-mama Papua (Papuan mothers). Since 2019 he has run the collective outlet Lao-Lao Papua, and on 20 September 2025 launched Nadi Papua | Narasi Dignitas, a platform focused on human rights and democracy in Papua.
